Allow subscribing to an entire forum
ie automatically subscribe to new topics in a forum when they are created
one obvious use case Noffy mentioned is subscribing to the ranking criteria forum, many BN/NAT would like to do this because they check and respond to every thread there already and it's tedious to keep checking the listing for new topics
was thinking about this again recently. how I see it, this can mean two different things

a forum subscription could notify you of new topics, and probably auto-subscribe you to those as a convenience. this is easy to implement and I can imagine it being suitable for cases like watching the Help forum to help with tech support.

a forum subscription could notify you of all new posts, regardless of what topic subscriptions you have. this is more powerful for cases where you really want to follow the entire conversation of a forum, for example I would do this on the RC forum. but it comes with more considerations:
- it's impossible to ignore any particular topic this way if you don't care to follow it anymore
- if you want to keep following some topics after you unsubscribe from the forum, you have to remember to go back and subscribe to all of those, which might be annoying
I was also thinking maybe I could try the first option, but also add a button like "subscribe to all topics on this forum", to help jump to that state of really following the entire forum.
