Prioritize certain users in search

Open IanRockwell opened this issue 3 weeks ago • 3 comments

Just a suggestion for bumping certain players in search based on a variety of criteria (their role: BN, NAT, GMT, Dev, etc.) (or their rank, their activity, how frequently their profile is viewed?).

Like, I don't see why when I type 7/8 characters in a BN's name, a random 6-digit who hasn't played in 3 months is showing up (and the one I'm actually looking for is nowhere to be found). 999/1000 times in that scenario I am not looking for that random guy.

I'd probably prioritise results by recent logins. @ppy/team-web what's the current search hinting using?

I could have sworn quick search used recent active users, but apparently not 🤔

I also feel like being able to explicit search for a user belonging to a group might be useful...

Probably any user in a group should also get search priority and that would be enough.
