[Proposal] Add new osu! originals section on the front page.
I know space is a premium on the front page, but with osu! originals being the most "original content" that the game produces, surely it would make sense to prioritise this over say, "newly ranked beatmaps".
I propose to create a new section on the front page that showcases the latest osu! originals to increase their exposure to the wider osu! audience (as of currently, the only way you would know about these is if you watch osulive or follow newsposts avidly).
This format could either be a crossfade video that gets updated every few months, or a link to those beatmaps, or whatever playback preview is currently used in the FA listings.
mostly to play devil's advocate, but partly because this is how I'd personally view it -- I don't know if this is really that relevant to the average player, I'm never going out of my way to search songs or play maps based on the details of how they are (or aren't) licensed for the game. it's more relevant for choosing songs to map I guess, but I can't imagine there is a mapper who would find a small originals ad section there to be a great convenience over just browsing the FA pages or keeping up with the news you mentioned
I mean, there's certainly a personal bias to it, but I would like to improve visibility on the original work that osu! is producing. I think pushing these forward paints a better image for the game.
I just don't see a universe where "Beethoven Virus" (or most of the other newly ranked beatmaps) where neither the song or image is produced by us should take visibility over the original stuff we are producing. We can just put the beatmap itself (since osu! originals are usually released in beatmap form)
I mean likewise, to devil advocate your devil's advocate, you could just look up the latest beatmaps on the beatmap search function. I don't know of anyone who actually uses that part of the website to look for maps, as far as I know most people just go to beatmap search or some channel.
How would a section here work? Like how frequently would something that goes in there rotate?
There wouldn't be any rotation, it would just show the last n releases, ordered by newest at the top.
