Portfolio Performance window doesn't use 100% of the screen

Open mikeaws1 opened this issue 1 year ago • 10 comments

Describe the bug I have a Windows 11 system and when I use Portfolio Performance (PP) I noticed that the window is not using 100% of the screen (even though the window of PP is maximized). This leads the annoying behavior that when you want to close PP and with the x-Button and you are in the top right corner of the monitor you are accidentally closing the window behind it because there seems to be one row of pixels unused. This also applies to the top of the window.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Open PP and a second window eg. a browser, both have to be on the same monitor
  2. Maximize both windows and put PP in the foreground
  3. Go to the very top right corner of the monitor with the mouse cursor
  4. Click
  5. Now it closes the second window instead of PP because it puts the second window in the foreground and you click on the x-Button of this window instead of PP

Expected behavior PP Window should fill the whole screen

Hey mate,

questions:

  • Size of your Monitor
  • Resolution of the same
  • any zooms activated ?

Cheers

Hi, my monitor is a Dell 27" monitor with 2k resolution. Display scaling is set to 100%, no additional zooms activated But I think I had the same problem on my old NEC 1920x1200 display

Hi,

seems to be a weird thing. I had the chance to check this issue on a Win 11 and a Win 10 machine, both are working as expected. Any change you have something extraordinary on your machine which causes this side effect?

Cheers

Tbh I can’t follow the issue, but that’s might because I‘m on a tablet atm.

Does PP always opens in this weird view? Or is the behavior depending on your activity’s. In Fact does it make a difference when you double click the top bar instead of using the full screen button. or is there a difference when you used half of the screen and full screen afterwards.

When this isn’t reproducible it’s quite impossible to fix it.

Cheers

Hi,

what do you mean with "weird view"? I tried to maximize the window with the top bar and only use the the half screen and then fullscreen but the issue remains.

Mike

Hi, with weird I meant the behavior of PP on your machine. In the meantime I have seen your vid on a large screen. I do see the issue but have no idea on how to reproduce it.

Have you already tried to reset the GUI settings? image

Or did you already tried to reinstall it?

Backup all your files, better save then sorry.

Cheers

Hi, i tried the GUI-Reset but it didn't help. My installation is very old, I think i started to use PP around 2018 and have only updated ever since. Maybe I try a fresh reinstall.

Regards.

Hi,

I would recommend the following, before you reinstall from scratch.

Within the setting choose: image

Than create a new PP file via --> save as

Make a copy of the folder which holds your PP file.

Reinstall PP. Usually the steps above are not needed, but you'll be on the save side then.

Cheers
