JavaScript error when new update available

Hi!

I have still the same problem with 2.2134.10-32 like bevor. I already change the folder to store WhatsApp, but the same issue occur again.

Here's a temporary fix !

1. Go to the official Whatsapp install folder AppData\Local\WhatsApp\app-2.2134.10 and copy "resources" folder.

2. Past or replace the resources folder that you copied into the Portable installation whatsapp-portable-win64-2.2132.6-31\app\app-2.2132.6

3. Enjoy !

The latest update from crazy-max 2.2134.10-32 didn't work for me either, I had to do the same fix I showed earlier !

I downloaded the last working version 2.2123.7-30 and copied not only resources but the whole folder. In my case whatsapp was installed from the Microsoft Store and its location was under C:\Program Files\WindowsApps (hidden folder). So working now.

Other than that, It seems the app is unable to update itself, stuck in an infite loop while trying. Is this a confirmed issue?

Ok found the issue. Looks like this error is triggered when there is a new update available.

For me the WA=WorkAround ;-) works, but had to delete the "resources" folder installed by WWA-portable before (don´t understand why but that was so..., perhaps I had any remnant o previous malfunction, or I had to re-run the .exe twice for it to work. So, if it does not work at first copy/overwrite, try it)

• Is there currently a working version. The version I had (app-2.2049.8) forced an update.. but this seems not be working as it keeps "updating"

SAME issue here.

I also had the same issue as @caspertone2003, and had to completely DELETE the resources folder BEFORE copying over the other one.

Too bad we can't simply pass in something like updates=0 in the shortcut. That would be MUCH simpler.

I have made a completely clean install.......... first try to run whatsapp-portable.exe and it's not works.

I have look the suggested temporary fix but it's say to install the official version.... if i install it the portable setup it's be optional :)

EDIT The actual Whatsappsetup from official site it's contain a version "WhatsApp-2.2144.11-full.nupkg". You can obtain this file (apparently it's a basic zip file) if you extract the official setup whit a tools like "Universal Extractor".

Apparently all files it's be located here (after extraction): \WhatsAppSetup\WhatsApp-2.2144.11-full\lib\net45

I have tryed to copy all this files to whatsapp-portable\app\app-2.2134.10..... but it's not works.

(win8 64-bit also works on windows 10)

.. 7-zip right click Extract WhatsAppSetup.exe

... Enter the extracted WhatsAppSetup folder

.... 7-zip right click Extract "WhatsApp-2.2147.16-full.nupkg"

..... Enter WhatsApp-2.2147.16-full\lib\net45 extracted

. Copy ALL FILES FROM net45 folder

. Paste ALL COPIED FILES into "whatsapp\app\app-2.2134.10" folder

. Run whatsapp-portable.exe

I also think it should be like this....

But the official whataspp has created more and more difficulties to avoid hacking and that includes imposing restrictions on the creation of the portable version...

It's not the fault of whoever created the portable app, but of Zuckeberg's company...

Works a treat! Unzipped, local installed, go go go ...

I am not sure if it was just a local quirk, I had to authenticate twice with the mobile app.

Wow the 2.2210.9-33 version included seems to work fine also here. Even two instances in the same Windows! Double QR Scan/Login seems to be a new "WhatsApp for Desktop feature". By one test QR Scan/Login was not necessary with every startup, which was a problem in Portables from other sources. So I would be happy if Meta/WhatsApp would allow this to run for some months.
