Firefox Nightly included in new floating window exception

Open Eduardo06sp opened this issue 2 years ago • 3 comments

(1) Issue/Bug Description:

The tiling feature has Floating Window Exceptions. Mozilla Firefox was added, but this affects Firefox Nightly users (it seems).

(2) Steps to reproduce (if you know):

Update Pop_OS!. Install Firefox Nightly. Enable window tiling. Open any app, then open Firefox Nightly.

It just floats freely and does not automatically get tiled.

(3) Expected behavior:

I expected Firefox Nightly to tile automatically, just like Mozilla Firefox (stable) currently does.

(4) Distribution (run cat /etc/os-release):

Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS

(5) Gnome Shell version:

42.3.1

(6) Pop Shell version (run apt policy pop-shell or provide the latest commit if building locally):

1.1.0~1658778861~22.04~4cf9e14

(7) Where was Pop Shell installed from:

Pre-installed with my lemp9

(8) Monitor Setup (2 x 1080p, 4K, Primary(Horizontal), Secondary(Vertical), etc):

1920x1080

(9) Other Installed/Enabled Extensions:

N/A

(10) Other Notes:

References PR #1494

I just noticed this same thing when I updated my Manjaro system today, ended up manually disabling the exception in Floating Window Exceptions. I usually have two main Firefox (Developer Edition) windows open tiled to each half of my screen, and this caused them to just float freely which was not what I expected.

Worked for me too. Just disable the exception, not sure why it is in there in the first place.

Just for tip, you can disable this in "Floating window exceptions => System Exceptions => Firefox"

Had same problem after upgrading pop shell.

Worked for me too. Just disable the exception, not sure why it is in there in the first place.

I think it was supposed to catch things like the floating sharing indicator (when you share your screen) and similar popups, but I think they messed up the regex.
