windows are not tiling properly on multi display

Pop!_OS 22.04 lemp11 Lenovo Q24h-10 as primary display (USB-C display and power)

With a dual display setup Alacritty is not tiling next to the existing window but on top of it.

Steps to recreate:

  1. Enable tiling
  2. Workspaces on Primary Display Only
  3. Open any window on the first workspace (primary display)
  4. On the second workspace open any two windows (easier to reproduce if the second is Firefox)
  5. Lock the screen wait a few seconds then unlock
  6. Drag Firefox to the secondary display (built in display on lemp11)
  7. On the display with Firefox open Alacritty Super + T

Alacritty will tile over the whole screen on top of Firefox instead of next to it. I have seen this happen with other apps, but Firefox and Alacritty seem to be the most reliable to reproduce the issue.

Alacritty is configured transparent to show issue, but it still works with no custom config.
