[Feature Proposal] Show app's icons on workspaces preview.

I think it is a good idea to add the possibility to select what to show in the preview of each workspace:

• the thumbnail of each screen (current behavior)
• a list of icons of the open applications.

I'm used to having more than one application open in each workspace, and I think showing the icons is more useful than just the thumbnail on the screen. This way you can identify at a glance which workspace you need to jump into.

Since windows can be dragged from each workspace preview thumbnail, I think this would reduce functionality. For example, my usual workflow involves at least four Firefox windows, usually each on their own workspace. If I want to move a particular window to another workspace, I can usually identify it by the thumbnail preview, then click and drag it. If they're all Firefox logos, I'll have to fumble around trying to figure out which one is which before I can move it.

Yep, I understand your point and it makes sense. But in my workflow I have more than one open app on each workspace (a code editor and one or two terminals by example, or a different text editor), and I have 5 or 6 active workspaces, so identify them just with the "front" app is a little hard some times. Not to mention that nowadays with the "dark theme" all of them looks very similar with each other. That's why I think to have the chance to select between screen thumbnail or icons list on the workspaces preview it would be useful for a lot of users. This is how it looks for me right now:
