Drop-down terminal option

Open kleenleen opened this issue 1 year ago • 4 comments

A drop-down option such as guake, yakuake, or xfce4-terminal is essential.

When working with floating windows, this is the best way to interact with the console. You hit a key (generally F12), and it pops, you don't need it anymore? It disappears until you hit the shortcut again.

yakuake

This might be a duplicate of https://github.com/pop-os/cosmic-term/issues/244

That's a similar request, I didn't find it before making this ticket because the previous ticket used unconventional terms

I also found this issue, and not the other.

There is another request for a drop-down feature in cosmic-terminal here.

In my comment I explained how to assign a keyboard shortcut to guake to make this work.

Cosmic Settings --> Keyboard --> Keyboard Shortcuts --> Custom

Shortcut name: Guake Toggle Command: /usr/bin/guake-toggle Key combination: F12 (F12 is guake's default, any key combination will work though)

The terminal pops up in the middle of the screen instead of dropping down but it works.
