Text with colored background has poor contrast in light theme

E.g. htop in light theme has black text on a dark colored background, which results in poor contrast. Comparison of htop between COSMIC Terminal on the left and GNOME Terminal on the right:

This also affects e.g. the apt install/upgrade progress text.

Just curious if there are any temporary workarounds for making the color scheme workable until the default is updated? In the meantime, I recommend Black Box as a similarly aesthetic alternative.
