Bug: High CPU usage when idle for some time
Hi, really love cosmic DE so far. While playing around I noticed that when the cosmic-settings is opened and left idle for some time my CPU usage spiked, same with temps (see screenshots).

Just tried it again, this time the CPU usage was 10%. Used strace to gather some info, maybe this can help you track down the problem? strace_onlyCosmicSettings.txt
I also saw significant cpu usage on several processes not just cosmic-comp not just when tiling but even when idle. It started a few weeks ago around the same time that more cosmic applets and wall papers were added to the binary packaged distribution version of the pre-release comic desktop published on the distro repositories. I was able to reproduce the issue on two laptops. However if I build cosmic desktop from scratch from source it does not have this cpu usage problem.
I am on pop os 22.04 unofficially in-place upgraded to 24.04 However lots of cosmic packages distro updated yesterday and the cpu usage problem did not come back so we can assume it is already fixed.
Same issue here. I think it happens when i open the display (~6%) or the sound (~3%) pages.
I have this happen, too. The CPU usage is >100% and switching between three programs continuously when monitored using htop: comsic-comp, cosmic-applet-audio and cosmic-osd. Anything I can provide to help diagnosing the issue? I run alpha4.
