system crash after switching between light and dark mode
problem
When switching between light and dark mode, the system crashes
my system
Pop!_OS 24.04 cosmic settings version 0.1.0 HP 87e1 laptop intel core i5 1135g7 intel irix XE graphics 8gb ram 256gb ssd
how to reproduce
- open cosmic settings while having another app open
- switch between light and dark mode a couple of times
- observe cosmic entering a broken state where cosmic panel still changes color, while the open applications do not.
Below image shows said state, the app on the right is in dark mode, while the settings application and the panel are not.
additional information
When i shut down my system at this point, there seems to be some serious corruption going on, a lot of text is replaces with squares. which looks like this:
I'll gladly provide any additional information if required.
I haven't had a crash, but I've also noticed that changing the theme results in a partial change and some brokenness recently. And it takes a long time to shut down (until the systemd timeout), but I thought something might be messed up with my install or hardware, since there are some fsck messages in the shut down logs.
yeah there are fsck messages for me too, it said something about the drive not being disconnected properly, but it was referring to my main nvme drive.. It had not been disconnected at all. I'll take a picture of the screen when I try this at home, just so i can type out a better error message.
