Feat: auto find/filter when typing
When in a folder, in KDE Dolphin when I write something it automatically finds a file or folder starting with that text and highlights it
This is not the same as searching or filtering, as it only searches for the beginning. But having a function that filters for any part of the filename would be even more useful
Same in Gnome files. It is a must have feature.
This issue reads to me like it's confounding two or three different feature requests. GNOME Files does not have typeahead similar to Dolphin, which is what the issue's first sentence describes. Type-to-search similar to GNOME Files has already been implemented in COSMIC Files.
Is this issue a request for functionality similar to GNOME Files (type-to-search) or Dolphin (typeahead), or is it requesting an entirely new concept of some different type of filename "filtering" (which doesn't sound very different from searching)?
Similar to how it works in Windows Explorer. Start typing and it matches the item which starts with the keyword as we type without pause. Pause and type again to starts matching again from the beginning
@jacobgkau not released yet? Just tried it.
