[bug] File picker does not come up on flatpaks and some native apps installed using COSMIC

Open nuke-web3 opened this issue 1 year ago • 3 comments

Cosmic-files version: 0.1.0~1733324712~22.04~2fa8e6a

Issue/Bug description: With Alpha 4 (but maybe also alpha 3) I cannot get a cosmic-files file open dialogue / picker on native installed Zed IDE, and same for flatpak Zen browser but also drag & drop files does not work either (related to #143).

The Zed IDE application flashes a picker once on ctrl+o that immediately terminates. Subsequently no picker seems to come up at all. I can not get the Zen browser to respond to a file upload at all (like on this issue to add screenshots).

Steps to reproduce:

  • Try to upload a file to a browser via button or drag&drop.
  • Try to open a file or workspace on Zed IDE (Note that drag & drop works as expected)

Other notes: I have Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS with cosmic added on top (via these instructions) installed. Firefox and Codium are both native installed apps that use the Pop!_OS native (GNOME?) file pickers just fine, even running cosmic-session.

Same thing happening to me. Either an application tries to open the cosmic-files file picker which fails, or it somehow falls back to the nautilus (gnome files) file picker.

Cosmic File picker is working fine for me with latest Native Zed & Flatpak Zen browser. Drag & drop doesn't work in neither Flatpak Zen or Native Brave but works in Native Firefox
