Workspaces view does not show open applications

When I open the workspaces view, whether via the keyboard shortcut or the icon, I get an empty grey bar on the left side of the screen and I do not see any of my open applications. In effect, I can't use workspaces mode in its current state. Here's what it looks like to me:

Some components aren't receiving updates anymore on 22.04, so it could be because of that. For testing COSMIC, 24.04 should be used.

I think this should be fixed now with the latest cosmic-comp and cosmic-workspaces master branches (after the alpha release packaged there).
