[Feature Request / Bug] PWA Icon not displayed in dock
When opening a PWA the icon of the browser is displayed in the dock instead of the PWA icon.
So it also stacks (#661), what makes it difficult to navigate between PWAs.
System:
OS: Fedora Linux 40 (Workstation Edition) x86_64 DE: COSMIC (alpha 2) WM: cosmic-comp (Wayland) Browser: Brave Browser 129.1.71.102 beta
I have the same bug
OS: Pop!_OS 24.04
Browser: Chrome 131.0.6778.85
cosmic-launcher: 0.1.0~1732633721~24.04~6322a99
I also have the same problem.
I would be nice to have dock icons for the "installed" PWAs.
I have the same problem but only when the browser (any Chromium based browser) runs in XWayland which is still the default. In this case indeed all PWAs get bunched together under the icon browser.
HOWEVER if I run the browser as a Wayland app I have a different problem. Each PWA will be correctly shown with a separate icon on the dock BUT the icon is a generic cog icon for all PWAs, it does not show the PWA icon, so all look the same and you can't distinguish between them.
PS: To run the browser as a Wayland app you have to start it with the --ozone-platform=wayland option from the terminal. Or edit the .desktop file in /usr/share/applications or /usr/local/share/applications or /usr/share/applications or ~/.local//share/applications and add the option there on the exec line
Just +1'ing here.
I have the same issue with Pop OS 24.04 Cosmic - Epoch. Exactly as @cristian-fleischer has described. It is difficult to work with Microsoft Apps that are mostly exclusively PWA for Linux.
I also have the same issue with Cosmic Beta:
OS: Pop!_OS 24.04 Beta
Browser: MS Edge 142.0.3595.53
I found a work around.
I started using the Quick Web Apps App under Made for Cosmic section in the Cosmic Shop.
The only issue is if the PWA requests permissions for notifications. MS Teams PWA will show an error and not receive calls.
All other PWAs work well for me.
