Dash to Dock can mess up Cosmic Dock visually

Open Nitue opened this issue 3 years ago • 3 comments

If user installs Dash to Dock and changes its settings, then removes Dash to Dock and starts using Cosmic Dock. Cosmic Dock's look may not be as expected. E.g. this case on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/pop_os/comments/rgfwog/dock_looking_broken_after_update_to_2110/

Suggestions for a better experience:

  • Enabling Cosmic Dock from the settings should reset the settings so Dash to Dock cannot mess up Cosmic Dock
  • Settings for Dash to Dock and Cosmic Dock should be completely separate so they don't affect each other

Just to add some data in case the link does not work in the future: They use the same dconf entries: /org/gnome/shell/extensions/dash-to-dock. Visually broken Cosmic Dock can currently be fixed by resetting the settings (e.g. with dconf-editor).

i had the same issue, and the dconf-editor saved me, (/org/gnome/shell/extensions/dash-to-dock) it was the dock-fixed option, i set it back to default value, and the dock appears.

thanks

Confirming that the dconf fix works for me as well.
