COSMIC dock shows artifacts under Wayland
I recently updated to 21.04 from 20.10. My install is pretty vanilla so I don't think there's anything unique on my end that could be the culprit. Anyway, what I noticed is that the dock has these gray squares in the corners. They aren't there upon logging in, but they show up after the computer comes out of suspend.
I prefer Wayland but know it has its issues. So I logged in under X and tried to replicate my working environment under Wayland (same programs open, etc.). I let the computer go to suspend and woke it up, but no gray squares on the dock.
Using wayland myself, but cant replicate this issue. Did you have some special packages installed? Btw, this seems to be similar to pop-os/cosmic#58
Thanks DuttaAB-dev. I don't have any special packages installed (Spotify, 1password, Code, Signal, Anaconda, Insync, Steam, Zoom). But you're right, the bug you referenced is exactly what's happening. It turns out that I was able to replicate the bug under X. I'm going to try and pass the kernel parameter as suggested (I have a Lemur Pro 9 with 10th gen Intel graphics).
EDIT: On second thought, I'm not sure if the kernel parameter referenced in pop-os/cosmic#58 is appropriate since my integrated graphics are 10th gen. Moreover, this seems like a stop-gap solution. Is there a long term solution? Any diagnostics I can provide that can help?
System76 said that a fix will be rolled into the official release. Going to close this ticket.
Any update on this?
Exact same problem here :/
OS: Pop!_OS 21.04 x86_64
Kernel: 5.11.0-7620-generic
DE: GNOME 3.38.4
CPU: Intel i7-10750H (12) @ 5.000GHz
GPU: Intel CometLake-H GT2 [UHD Graphics]
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Mobile / Max-Q
Still nothing. Kind of disappointing since I own a Lemur Pro 9.
Happens to me on x11 too on multiple computers (all with Pop's default Nvidia drivers). Seems to be related to having the Dash to Dock extension previously installed. I've noticed that switching the option "Force Straight Corner" (Dash to Dock - Appearance) does fix it for the session even if Dash to Dock is disabled. But when the session is restarted it show the artifacts back until the same option is switched again and so on. I've got no idea of why switching this option on and off fixes it temporarily or if it works for every setup with this issue.
