show hint about interaction of TB's "Open messages in" and TL's "When running, open TLs"
"In new window" functionality works, but "in new tab" functions just like "new window" for me. I see this behavior in Icedove, versions 17.0.9 and 24.4.0.
What do you have set in your Thunderbird/Icedove Reading & Display options for Open messages in: A new tab - A new message window - An existing message window? It is just a hunch, but it could be that setting is having some impact. Beyond that I'm not sure I will be much help, so you'll have to wait for the developer to chime in.
Also, just for additional data: in new tab works correctly for me. I am on Thunderbird 24.5.0. And I have Open messages in: set to A new tab.
Hi Tim before I start searching for a debian box for vagrant, could you please answer the question posted above?
I was previously set to "A new message window". When I change "Open messages in:" to "A new tab", and set Thunderlink to use a new tab, then everything works as advertised.
It would appear that Thunderbird's setting is affecting this functionality when it's set to "A new message window".

I didn't know TB had such a config setting. thanks for the tip, Sean and for checking, Tim. I guess I'll add that tip in a popup infobox in the TL config window. I don't want to be messing with people's regular TB settings in my addon too much.
