Documentation about plugins

Is there a blog post or something where you explain what exactly you put on the plugins/*json to describe how to display new data ? I would like to write a json for a rabbitmq plugin.

There does not seem to be documentation on this (patches welcome?). I suggest to have a look at existing plugins and their git history.
