PiP/Media List not showing/working

Open nishiiyo opened this issue 8 months ago • 3 comments

Hello!

I was recommended by a developer to open an issue here, so I'm trying to.

A few days back the media list stopped showing (despite having it on all the time) and thus using Picture in Picture is not a possibility anymore. I've tried turning the media list off and on, reinstalling the extension and neither worked. Restarting the browser did not either. I wondered whether the feature has been taken out of the extension, but was told it's a bug, so hopefully trying to reach out here could be of some help, as I loved the feature and used it a lot.

If it's of any help, I'm using Cent Browser and I'm not aware of any changes being done (updates to the browser, PC OS or me toggling with any settings) that could lead to the feature of the extension being gone.

Thank you!

Hello! I did make some changes recently. All seems to work on my end, but I guess there might be a bug somewhere.

Does the website you go to matter?

  1. Close all tabs and restart Cent browser.
  2. Go to just Youtube.com or another specific website and open a video. 3 Does the media item show? If not, which website did you go to?

Make sure you don't have any other tabs/windows.

Hello!

Seems like it may be a browser issue, since I just tried on Microsfot Edge and the media list showed, but it stopped showing in the Cent Browser, all worked fine before 12th this month, so I'm not sure if it could be related to the changes you made? That's at least when I noticed the feature missing for me and I used it almost daily.

I've tried what you said, but alas, the media list is still not showing even if I restart the browser and only have YouTube open and some video playing on it. Neither does the list show on other sites that are playing any sound/video. So I assume it's the browser issue after all, since the list was showing fine on Edge?

Hello! Looks like it. Cent is Chromium based but looks like the latest version a year old so there's probably some missing functionality.

I recommend changing browsers. It's generally unsafe to use old browsers because they have known unpatched vulnerabilities.
