Video player rotation issues

Steps to reproduce the bug

  1. From subscription select item
  2. Play video item on mobile phone
  3. Start playback in portrait
  4. Rotate screen with autorotate enabled

another ritation issue

  1. from subscription select item
  2. select play video
  3. select fullscreen
  4. with phone in portrait orientation

Observe video isn't scaling and rotating into landscape to fill entire screen.

Expected behavior

Rotates into landscape full screen playback similar to what freetube does.

Actual behavior

issue 1

  1. Plays portrait in landscape mode.

issue 2

  1. starts rotation but stops playback and goes back to subscription list
  2. now tubular is in landscape mode and user has to repeat steps to playback subscribed video, it now correctly plays fullscreen in landscape configuration

Can verify, I'm having the same issue on my device (Pixel 8a, GrapheneOS 15 2025041100)

No, it does not occur in vanilla Newpipe
