is weechat-matrix dead?
Hi all
Five years ago, the project status was declared as "weechat-matrix is in maintenance mode".
The last commit to weechat-matrix was two years ago. Most code was written in 2018, only some on 2019 and 2020.
Two years ago, weechat-matrix stoppped running on current Pyton environments. To this day, there is no fix (only a work-around that creates a static, outdated and unsupported environment.)
One year ago, Matrix deprecated libolm because of multiple security issues. To this day, weechat-matrix depends on the deprecated libolm.
One and a half years ago, someone asked for write access to this project. @poljar offered: "Yes, absolutely." But AFAICT, no-one took this offer and joined the dev team.
All this makes me feel like weechat-matrix is dead.
@poljar: Can you say something about the status of this project? Can you/we officially retire and archive this project?
Or does anyone feel like calling for new developers and maintainers to revive this project?
Thanks for all the work.
Its dead, all the care is here now: https://github.com/poljar/weechat-matrix-rs
@jj475s: Thanks for the reply.
Are you a member of this project? I don't see you in contributors. I'm asking because I am looking for an authoritative answer from a project maintainer.
I am aware that weechat-matrix-rs exists. The README of weechat-matrix states: "development has moved to weechat-matrix-rs".
However, the README of weechat-matrix-rs sais: "This project is a work in progress and doesn't do much yet." In the last year, weechat-matrix-rs only saw 18 commits, mostly updates to README and dependencies. I'm not sure that qualifies as "all the care".
From what I can tell, weechat-matrix-rs is not in a state weechat-matrix, and it doesn't look close to getting there soon.
Therfore, my question remains.
