Payout: Clarify delay after withdrawal

Open birkjernstrom opened this issue 8 months ago • 1 comments

Currently, upon withdrawal the following process happens:

  1. Polar transfers funds to Stripe Connect Express
  2. Polar has a short delay before triggering the subsequent payout for the amount associated with the payout (transfers) for last resort security/review
  3. Polar triggers the payout on Stripe

Causing a moment where the seller could see a payout on Polar, but on their Stripe account they see the amount and "Payout frequency: Manual".

It causes a bit of confusion. So would be nice to add a note on Polar, i.e "Transferred to Stripe and will issue payout within 24h" or something along those lines to communicate it clearly to sellers.

Hey @birkjernstrom, maybe in the docs itself we can add a note regarding the delay. Both in API and SDK docs. Or in the response itself we can send this message Transferred to Stripe and will issue payout within 24h .

hey @birkjernstrom @frankie567 if the issue isn't assigned to anyone yet, i would love to solve this and contribute to polar

Contributions are definitely welcome, but we don't assign issues unless it's within the internal team. We've found it only causes unnecessary overhead: Life happens and contributions are not made, but with assignment others assume it's in progress – creating a follow-up game vs. progress being shown or open for anyone to pickup.

Also closing issues created internally without activity for the past 3+ months to streamline our updated backlog. Will resurface if needed.
