Is there a way to clear the data saved on the card.

Which type of card do you use? For example, with a DesFIRE EV1, you need to select the master app (and to authenticate) and then, send the formatPICC command https://www.mifare.net/support/forum/topic/desfire-ev1-reset-to-factory-default/
