Boosts via Siri & CarPlay
It would be awesome if as part of using Podverse with CarPlay I could send a boost whose value is whatever my default is and whose message was composed by Siri similar to sending a text message.
@genebean while this is an interesting feature idea...I'm not sure yet that this is something we want to do.

Siri boosts would be convenient...but they also open up the possibility of someone sending a boost accidentally by audio (or what if someone activates your Siri maliciously by speaking words over a speaker?). I'm not sure how we could implement Siri-based boosts without opening a potential attack vector.

While Podverse mobile will work in cars, we don't have actual CarPlay or Android Auto yet (it would load a special UI in your CarPlay / Android Auto interface). I don't think we want to add boosts to the CarPlay / Android Auto dashboard because we don't want to encourage people to send transactions while driving.
Perhaps streaming sats would make sense as a CarPlay feature, since you can basically set it and forget it while you drive. If the precedent is there for other major apps to send payments while driving maybe I could change my mind, but otherwise I don't think we want to encourage people to actively engage with sending payments while driving.
Streaming sats are not implemented yet though https://github.com/podverse/podverse-rn/issues/1176
Totally get that. Thanks for considering. FWIW, streaming sats while in CarPlay is a thing in other apps.
@genebean after doing some CarPlay work, I'm pretty sure that we won't be allowed to add a boost button to the auto experience, and I think that's fair. Streaming sats seems like the way to go for CarPlay. We're still blocked on adding it...but I think we'll have time to focus on streaming sats early 2023.
Do you know of any apps that have boosts with Siri? I don't know if Apple allows them..I can't think of another app that lets you pay using voice commands, but I don't use Siri a lot so I dunno.
Understandable. I don’t know of any using Siri for boosts either.
