foo bar と hoge fuga のどちらも、「とくに意味のない名前を表す」機能を持った単語だと認識しています。両者の違いは、前者がが英語圏を始め広く使われているのに対して、後者は日本語圏のみで使われていることだと思います。 https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%A1%E3%82%BF%E6%A7%8B%E6%96%87%E5%A4%89%E6%95%B0 そのため、hoge fugaが稚拙であるとはあまり感じたことはありませんでした。またどちらも明確に「意味のない言葉」であることを現していると感じています。 この点についてなにか追加で情報があれば、共有いただけると助かります。 個人的には、hoge fugaをfoo barなどに置き換えることについては、ややネガティブです。 日本独自ではないグローバルな単語を使うことにはある程度のメリットがあると思います。一方このドキュメントは日本語話者が読むことを想定しています。そのため置き換えた場合のメリットは限定的になると思っています。 そのため、コストを払って既存のコードを置き換えるほどのメリットはないと考えています。 --- 蛇足ですが、より意味のある単語を使える場合は使うという方針もあります。 https://github.com/rurema/doctree/issues/433#issuecomment-341148880
