IOS 11 turning off the accelorometer seems to do nothing

after a bunch of testing i've came to the conclusion that turning off the accelorometer seems to do nothing. i still get updates around a set interval if i lay my device flat down and keep it there, but if i shake it, move it etc... even if my accelorometer is turned of in the config i still get updates
