• Additional comments / info: Modrinth aims to get the user away from CurseForge, the closed-sourced mod distribution by Overwolf (formerly by Amazon/Twitch). CurseForge had some critique about their licensing for the mods uploaded. Overwolf gives data to third parties (Privacy Policy). Also see this discussion. With CurseForge, the Overwolf app also needs to be run in the background, and it uses telemetry. Overwolf also engaged in anticompetitive behaviour in the past (Source). Prism Launcher includes downloading both directly from CurseForge and from Modrinth. Also supports modpacks, custom profiles, texture packs, shader packs, and much more.
