What about moving the repository away from GitHub?

Open jonatasbaldin opened this issue 2 years ago • 6 comments

GitHub, under Microsoft, still collects and tracks personal user information.

Any thoughts on moving the repository to a more privacy focused git hosting, like Codeberg?

Thanks for all the contributions, I really enjoy this project!

I am now slowly moving to codeberg. This will be also moved there but I will need some time.

Gitlab any good?

While I do like Gitlab, I prefer Codeberg as it is based on Gitea and is more lightweight.

On top of that, I would argue gitea is also better for privacy than gitlab as you can view projects with javascript disabled, but if you want to selfhost a git service, I would recommend you checkout this spreadsheet (while this is made by gitea, it does not seem biast (to me, at least) as it covers all the features people probably care about).

The repo is already mirrored in Gitea, so anyone can use that link instead of the Github one! Also, any issues opened there are also reviewed.
