Feature request: Regex validation of fields

Hi, I think this is a feature request (But perhaps this is an option).

It would be usefull to be able to add a regex on text field entries. My use case (coming from OTRS where this is possible) is that I want to allow my customer to add his own reference to tickets/changes. However, if I let them wohatever they want, they end up writing a whole page, while this field should only contain a specific amount of characters. Adding a user costomisable regex would be usefull for this (and other cases)

actually, fields is not compatible with regex , but it's interesting
