[pix_film], [pix_movie] is not stable to play the video
hello. I'm glad that Gem is finally available on plug!
I'm not sure if it's relevant here, but I have suffered a problem on using pix_film and pix_movie for many years that the video is very choppy and slow, sometimes even freezes. and unfortunately it seems Gem on plug shows the same problem - choppy but more stable than vanilla. does someone here also have the same problem? or if not, can you advice me which encoding of video should I use? I'm using Windows 11 and plugdata stable v0.9.2.

Which video codec are you using?
For "performance" video you generally want something like mjpeg, where you have access to individual video frames.
I usually use H.264. do you mean like MPEG/MPEG4 Video? I also tried H.264-Quicktime-MPEG codec but it was also choppy on Gem.
No, I mean mjpeg/motion-jpeg: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Motion_JPEG
That's what we always used to use for GEM and other VJ projects.
Your files are going to be much much bigger of course, but manipulating playback and such should be much smoother.
thank you but I'm afraid I'm probably not understanding well.
could you let me know how to encode my video into mjpeg format? because it seems my Davinci Resolve doesn't have the option for it.
Probably QuickTime -> JPEG ?
sorry, my bad. first half images mean formats, and last half mean codecs for Quicktime format. so there are only option for Quicktime->Kakadu JPEG 2000 or Quicktime -> Photo JPEG. I tried to make each video with each codec but this time plugdata freezed when the video is loaded 🤯...or, which program do you use when make mjpeg video?
