Current folder selector in folder content view is confusing

In folder content view, there is a checkbox near breadcrumb with no label : it's confusing, and it's not obvious that it is used to do actions on current folder.

Current folder checkbox could be in the content list table in first position like in ftp browser as ".", or more precise with a label "current folder". I can provide a wireframe to explain my suggestion.

I think I understand what you're saying. I'm rather fond of the current approach though--being close to the breadcrumbs.

Using the "." makes sense to power users used to the shell but I'm not sure it'd be useful for the average user.

Would adding something simple like this:

be any better?

I'm still open to the additional top row idea though.
