I was looking all over Site Setup for the setting that makes Plone open up external links in a new browser tab or window. Apparently I found it in the @@theming-controlpanel's Advanced tab but now checking the ploneconf.org site I don't see it in there. Where is it really, and why does it seem to change location or disappear?

You are not talking about the tinymce setting right ?

@tkimnguyen, it should be always in Advanced > Theme base. Maybe you missed the 2nd pair of tabs? I think it's the only place in Plone we have such pattern.

Nevertheless I agree it's an unintuitive place because it doesn't have to do with themes/skins behavior - and despite of looking more so, neither Mark special links.

I think those were moved/buried there in a rush when Diazo's "Theming" control panel had to be merged with the existing "Theme" one. I think they'd be more meaningful/findable either in the @@navigation-controlpanel or @@site-controlpanel schema.

Great I can't find that in the docs at all, I do not even knew that Plone has this ... so yes I am happy that it is there but I am really unhappy that we have this feature, we ship this feature but we have no docs about it ....

So please, would someone who know what it does, and so on jump in and write some docs, if the docs also include a working robot-test and/for screenshots, I will by this person beer or another beverage at the next conference or sprint or so !

I'll take a stab at it once I find it again... I seriously cannot find it on the ploneconf.org site (5.0.2) now.

OK in Plone 5.0.4 it's in @@theming-controlpanel, "Advanced settings", then the "Theme base" sub tab... a bit too hidden for my taste, given that it's something I think a lot of content editors would want to know about. In fact, why isn't it on by default?

I went looking for "Site Setup" mentions in the docs and found this:
