Playlist Behavior on Home Screen Not Behaving Normally

Open louderthanconcorde opened this issue 6 years ago • 2 comments

If a playlist is used from Plex for Kodi, the Playlists section on the home screen only updates sporadically. So, if one plays a hypothetical playlist, "Recently Aired TV Shows," it will only rarely move to the front left of the Playlists row on the home screen. If one plays the same playlist from another Plex player, the list will be updated.

Details:

  • Add-on version: 0.1.6
  • Kodi version: 18 Alpha 1, 17.6
  • OS Platform: Android, MacOS
  • Hardware: Shield TV, iMac

Upon further testing, I think the cause of the problems pertains to the number of items in each playlist.

Music Playlists "move to the front" as expected if the list contains numerous songs. For example, a playlist with 4,721 songs moves to the front, while one with 25 does not. In another case, a playlist with 401 songs moves to the front, while one with 50 does not.

The situation is the same with movies. I utilize many smart playlists for movies and tv shows, and some of these move forward and some don't. The ones that do have 222 and 108 videos respectively. Others with fewer items, such as one with 16 items, doesn't move.

I think that 100 may be the magic number as the smart playlist mentioned above (with 108 vides) didn't start to move appropriately till it was repopulated.

Thanks for looking into this, @ruuk . Having my home screen updated with all of my most recent playlists would make for a much smoother experience overall.

One final comment, @ruuk . Looks like the playlists update if the total items on the list are 101+. I just made a new smart playlist to test this out. It didn't update at 100 items, but did at 101. Thanks!
