Enable/disable extension based on hosting plan / subscription

Open b-pfl opened this issue 8 years ago • 4 comments

Right now, the Let's encrypt extension is available for any website & subscription once the plugin is installed. Since different hosting plans typically comprise certain features, it would be nice if Let's Encrypt can be enabled / disabled for specific hosting plans and / or subscriptions.

Almost one year ago, I have already suggested this feature. Much appeal, but no reaction of the Coder. See #39

I think security should not be an feature of an hosting package. It must and should be an world wide standard. So definitely no to that request :P

Well, first of all, without wanting to start a flame war, if security is the highest concern, there are quite some other mandatory issues that should be fixed for Plesk (e.g. no symmetric passwords for accounts, https://talk.plesk.com/threads/force-password-encryption-for-mail-users.332212/)...

However, getting back to the original issue, for me it is more the idea to present a clean inteface to certain customers. For them, the idea would be to enable Let's encrypt with out seeing the options for it...

Hey guys,

I can also side with the original post. Reason being is that it can cut out profit for resellers who sell premium SSL to customers. If all customers have access to free SSL within their dashboard, then they are likely not going to purchase an SSL certificate.

Something to think about. Either way, thanks for your hard work and contribution! :)
