Support for regular point clouds

Hello

Thanks for your excellent software.

I am wondering if this software supports loading ”regular” point cloud data? Format does not matter as I can just convert it to a suitable format for Supersplat.

I’m looking to align lidar data with a splat model for more accurate measurements.

Thank you!

This isn't currently supported.

Do you want to edit the regular point data (translate, move etc) and then output these again?

Thanks!

Hello,

Correct. Just translate, scale, rotate and possibly cropping. Then save. No compression or anything like that.

Regular XYZ data that can be in different format such as LAZ, LAS or PLY for example.

There are free tools for this already, like CloudCompare.

Does Playcanvas intend to modify engine to upload these point-cloud formats? Or is it better to convert/process the typical .ply properties into a 'gaussian' .ply format and then load it as a gsplat asset, on the fly..?

For now I would suggest using PLY GS data.

I doubt we'll have time to implement general point cloud editing anytime soon.
