Tracking Not Stable

Open uprealdigital opened this issue 2 years ago • 1 comments

Hi,

The tracking is not really stable after doing a quick test of the sample project.

I'm using Samsung S20 Ultra which is a really powerful and recent phone.

Here's the video of my test: https://youtube.com/shorts/0ekF6gc3P3U?feature=share

The object does always follow the tracked image it seems like. As I move the tracked image, the cube rotate weirdly around the image.

Also, is there a specific size that the image needs to be printed out? It's not mentionned in the documentation, at least that I saw. Usually you need a specific physical size. Maybe that's why the tracking is poor in my case. What would be the physical size for printed image?

Also, only the Hiro image seems to be working using the sample. Am I missing anything?

Thank you!

Looking at the video, it looks like the marker printed is not square and is stretched/squashed

The width of the borders needs to be the same on all sides for tracking to work correctly

This is why the box tilts at certain angles

Refer to this page for creating new markers: https://www.artoolworks.com/support/library/creating_and_training_new_artoolkit_markers.html#Creating_new_markers

Side note: This repo is very old and not maintained anymore and arguably should be archived.

For newer AR libraries to do image based tracking in the browser, there's Zappar (paid), 8th Wall (paid) and WebXR AR (only Android at the moment)

Unfortunately, there's not a library that is free and (to my knowledge) been integrated with PlayCanvas that is free/open source
