Offer Podman Container Option for Self-Hosting in Planka

Open digitalethics opened this issue 3 months ago • 1 comments

I am suggesting that Planka provide a Podman container option alongside Docker for users who prefer to self-host. Podman offers several security benefits and advantages over Docker, making it a valuable alternative for users concerned about container security.

Podman operates without a daemon and runs containers as regular user processes, enhancing security by minimizing the attack surface and reducing the risk of security breaches. Additionally, Podman supports rootless containers, allowing users to run containers without elevated privileges, further improving security and reducing potential vulnerabilities.

By offering a Podman container option for self-hosting, Planka can cater to users who prioritize security and want to leverage the benefits of Podman for their containerized environment. This option would provide users with greater flexibility and choice in how they deploy and manage Planka, empowering them to make security-conscious decisions that align with their preferences and requirements.

I believe that providing a Podman container option for self-hosting in Planka would enhance the platform's appeal to security-conscious users and further demonstrate Planka's commitment to prioritizing security and user choice. Thank you for considering this feature request and exploring ways to enhance security and flexibility in Planka's self-hosting options.

I like the idea, but please don't use an LLM to generate the text for you. It's hard to read, contains tons of duplication and overall does not convey the same message as if the text was written by a human.
