Integrating Features
Our team is looking to move from Trello to Planka, but we found some essential features in our workflow are missing. We plan on integrating most of these features over the next couple of months and opening a pull request to maintain future feature parity, but we'd love to hear your thoughts before we get started.
Missing Features (Most Important to Least Important):
- Board-wide activity (A sidebar showing the recent activities of members on the board, identifies members abusing their permissions and uploading inappropriate content. More actions should also be logged but only visible via API to avoid cluttering the board, this is the case with Trello.)
- Card archiving/closing/hiding (Sets a property on the card to true, hiding it from the board. The card can be archived/unarchived from the side buttons on the modal. There will also be a list in the sidebar that can be opened with a button to view the archived cards and search through them)
- Copy/clone list
- Move list (to another board)
- Move all cards in a list (to another list)
- Shortcuts (ex: hovering over a card and pressing c to archive)
Hi! Thanks for the suggested ideas, many of those are already on our roadmap. We're still trying to make working on Planka our core activity, so hopefully the process of adding new features will go much faster soon.
@meltyshev We are looking to integrate these features ourselves and open a PR as Trello unfortunately only gave a month warning for their significant price increase. Do you have any thoughts on the proposed implementation before we get started?
Oops, sorry, I missed the fact that you want to make a PR with the changes 🙈 We'll try to discuss over the weekend what we can make of this ourselves, since we already have a vision for things like Archive and it's a bit different from how it's done in Trello. We'll be back with our thoughts as soon as possible.
Would it be possible to publish your roadmap? Now that Trello is becoming unattractive or unsustainable for many (smaller) teams, many are looking for alternatives. I really like Planka so far, but I would like to know what the future holds for it.
Please give us a couple of days to do this. We are very aware that we owe our community a proper roadmap. And so we will compile it for you and share a little of what's coming up with everybody. Already in the nearest future we will contribute a major part of our professional time to this project. It will become more refined, more professional and much more powerful and we are more than just exited about this.
We've written our plans here, which we'd like to solve initially: https://github.com/plankanban/planka/issues/627
