Android Auto lag

When trying to use Android Auto with the Astro Slide (Wired or wireless) both ithe head unit and phone have lag of >2 secs registering keystrokes. This makes it pretty much impossible to use on the go, such as changing destinations, opening other Android Auto apps etc. Android Auto is working well with my other Android Auto phone so this is definitely an Astro Slide isse, not the head unit.
