Switches to portrait briefly sometimes when waking up

With some apps, when the phone is in landscape and put to sleep with the app open, upon waking and unlocking the screen, the phone switches to portrait momentarily, e.g. Google Wallet, Up Bank, Spotify's now playing screen.
