How are credentials stored?

Open blaggacao opened this issue 11 months ago • 3 comments

I wonder if they are just kept in ~/.local/share/....

If that's the case, maybe this library would be of interest: https://github.com/pimalaya/keyring

If that's of your interest and that interest ends up being mirrored, it would be a nice match.

Well, the password and original credentials are, of course, never stored. But yes, the access token is stored in plain text. I don't have a lot of interest in making this better though, since my home directory (and entire HDD, in fact) is always fully encrypted. I actually prefer plain-text credentials instead of worrying about the complexity of keyring integration.

Understood!

Would it be a terrible idea to leave this open and explicitly encourage contributions of keyring integration? (So you wouldn't have to spend the initial work yourself and only accomodate maintenance - which may be shared with the pimalaya lib anywas)

Oh yeah, absolutely. I’ll leave this open.
