Mavericks, no sound through headphones after install

Open ghost opened this issue 10 years ago • 6 comments

After installing wavtap my sound is all screwed up. It won't play through the headphones and it won't even record audio.

That happened to me you need to open up the Audio MIDI Setup app and mess around with the configuration in there.

I'm having the same trouble. @ryangurn, mind being more specific?

For anyone experiencing this problem, Audio MIDI Setup can be found in /Applications/Utilities. I used it to create a Multi-output device that included both WavTap and my Default Built-In audio device.

@parasyte doesn't this defeat the purpose of wavtap as middle man for sound? Anyway when I follow your advice the volume doesn't work

@pitxels You have to set volume on the built-in audio device before switching to the multi-output device. AFAICT, this is a limitation in OSX.

It may seem redundant to do this at all, but the reality is WavTap has been abandoned and is not fully compatible with newer OSX releases. You can either workaround the issues, or use another audio middle-man package until it's fixed.

I still cannot believe that this project was abandoned. It is literally the only way to get mac to do desktop audio.

It worked PERFECTLY for me first install. I shut my machine down and rebooted ... now I'm getting the issue everyone else is experiencing.

Really hope @pje would take the time and update this.
