[Bug]: App unresponsive when switching themes

Description

After a theme option is selected, the app can take a few seconds to re-render it all. This means there is a few seconds after one of the ones in the list is clicked where the whole app is unresponsive. Ideally it should say "switching theme..." or at least have a loading icon next to the option in the list.

Steps to reproduce

1. Navigate to Settings > Appearance
2. Select the selection box next to Theme
3. Select one of the options you do not currently have active
4. Observe the app being unresponsive for a few seconds
