Not actually unloading the unloaded tab

Open rayman89 opened this issue 11 years ago • 7 comments

Seems that suspend tab does not actually always unload the tab cause sometimes when i click on it and the tab loads it shows the version it had when unloaded so if the page gets updated while unloaded you wont see it unless you refresh it that means the page is still stored somewhere. Could you fix this or at least put it as an option?

What version of the Firefox? Does the issue appear without any other addon?

Yes it does happen on a new clean profile with just this addon. It happened before in other versions of the script and firefox now I'm in ff 29.0.1 w7.

Also an other thing I dont know if it's ok but for example if i have 300 tabs open but one loaded even though firefox uses a lot less memory is still a lot more than if i had one tab open and nothing else. Is that normal? Should be more ram but not THAT much?

This is probably caused by browser cache. Just because the tab is unloaded, doesn't mean the page is uncached. Some of the cache is held in memory. Try using Ctrl+Shift+Del to clear the cache, then open the tab again, and see if the problem persists.

Hmm, then, I think this is unsolvable problem. This addon just notifies the message "you can liberate used memory for the tab" to Firefox. Clearing of the memory cache seems out of focus.

Can you make the tab bypass the cache for unloaded tabs? I think Auto Unload Tab has implemented something like that successfully. Thanks for your time.

I'm very sorry but currently I have very few time to develop addons, thus I need contributions like pull requests or researching result about other implementations.
