What is the reason to modify po2json parsing result?

I have spent a some time to understand why webpack po-loader is not works correctly with puttext. And I found this pretty strange modification for parsing result. Could you please tell me what is the reason? Thanks!

Actually I need to make a decision about which tool should be fixed puttext's gettrans function or po-loader.
