this system is well designed and lightweight. it would be perfect if it had the ability to unsubscribe.

perhaps you will find it interesting to incorporate features from this script:

@rob-lindman bit of an old one but this hasn't been updated in quite a few years. I've forked the repo over at https://github.com/VinylCarbon/Ajax-PHP-MySQL-Newsletter and added the unsubscribe function - not quite as extravagant as the one in your link but that will be added to gradually :)
