save keybinding seems not to be working

I am having an issue with the save keybinding not registering any save changes when pressed. I have defined the keybinding in the conf file as such:

[keybindings] external_edit = E save = S

When querying for info while in interactive mode (ikhal) is shows the change in the popup window. When pressed, however, I do not see any changes registered. I am currently running a script which watches my calendars via an inotiifywait loop and runs vdirsyncer when any changes are detected. At present, when deleting events I have to exit khal for such changes to be written to the files that are being watched.

I have noticed that the save function works in realtime (i.e. not having to exit khal to save) only when creating new events--which my inotify script picks and syncs.

The save key-binding is to save the currently created or modified event. It is not used to do what you want
