I installed PiKVM on TinyPilot hardware, and will never go back !
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. Not an issue, actually kind of the opposite, or you may call it "success story" !
Describe the solution you'd like Just to let you know how PiKVM sorted out an issue I had: I bought (rather expensive) a "TinyPilot Voyager a2" and was quite disappointed when I found out that the "Alt Gr" key was not functioning in the Web terminal of their interface. I opened a bug onto their site support and they were quite welcoming, but I soon discovered on their github that I wasn't the first one to bring that to their knowledge since a long time ago and they didn't delivered any kind of solution/workaround appart from use the virtual keyboard which is kind of buggy too... => If you don't have a US keyboard, don't use a TinyPilot !!
But, just to have a try, I installed PiKVM v3 (the plain "lastest" image) on the TinyPilot and I was quite surprised that it performed quite well on the TinyPilot hardware (Pi 4 based) and all features (except ATX commands, obviously) seems to be working, including the "Alt Gr" key... Being a French keyboard user, and a Linux admin, the pipe ( | ) symbol, which is a bit useful in a Linux terminal to say the least, is a last easily accessible on my KVM ! => Big thanks to PiKVM community and project contributors for this wonderful piece of software !!
This feature request is just "to let you know", and suggest you mention it in the documentation as it could help other frustrated TinyPilot users !
Describe alternatives you've considered Jump through the window ?
Additional context Didn't saw interesting PiKVM kits such as the "Geekyworm KVM A3 kit" before I bought the TinyPilot... which I now regret a lot ! It would have been a lot cheaper and way more efficient/practical !
Hey, thank you very much! I try to make the software as compatible as possible with all user devices, otherwise what is the point of its existence if it cannot be used? :D Considering that TinyPilot is a PiKVM copycat of (it appeared later than PiKVM and uses the main components from our project inside, for example, a video server), it is not surprising that PiKVM runs on this hardware. Moreover, if you migrate from TP to PiKVM, you can receive support in our chat. And you don't have to pay for a TP license every year, because we give you the features that are paid in TP for free.
As for Geekworm, we don't support it, as well as other copies. Only our own hardware, DIY projects and migration from TinyPilot.
Enjoy your updated system! :)
